The Market Harborough Conservative Club has been based at The Lilacs on Fairfield Road since its formation in 1912.  The club started as a social hub for members and has grown to include facilities for snooker, darts, table skittles, and lawn bowls.

The building predates the club, having been constructed by Dr. Alexander McIvor Tindall (1841-1913) in the late 1800s.  Dr. Tindall was a qualified medical practitioner, listed as M.R.C.S. (Member of the Royal College of Surgeons).  He appears in UK Poll Books and Electoral Registers for 1870 as residing in Market Harborough.

His descendants provided historical photographs of Dr. Tindall and The Lilacs, to the club archives.

In 1912, Dr Tindall sold the house and what is now the bowling green to the Market Harborough, Great and Little Bowden District Unionist Club for £1,100.

On 21st February 1972 at a Special General Meeting, the Market Harborough, Great and Little Bowden District Unionist Club membership voted unanimously to change the name to the Market Harborough Conservative Club.
